Finding Balance in a Fast World

Balance is not a state you reach. It is a correction you keep making.
Nobody has balance
Nobody has work-life balance. What people have is a sense of when things have tipped too far and a willingness to do something about it before the tipping becomes a fall.
Small, boring tools
The useful tools are small and boring: a hard stop on the working day, a morning that belongs to you before it belongs to anyone else, and one person who will tell you when you have started to disappear.
Balance is a verb
The point is not to reach equilibrium and stay there. It is to notice, early and often, and to correct. Balance is a verb.
